Alexandra L. Wilkes

I have always loved the movement arts and the complexities of the human body. I was a Dance major at School of the Arts in Rochester, which resulted in a round of physical therapy for knee pain that set the rest of my life in motion. I went to Skidmore College to study Exercise Science and Dance, and then MGH Institute of Health Professions for my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. In 2011, I began working in Pelvic Health and discovered my true passion. I found that pelvic health impacted every aspect of health, life, and mental well-being, and being able to influence a person’s ability to move, sit still, or perform all activities, including those in the bedroom and bathroom, without worry, fear, or pain is my true calling.

To help people become their best selves, I pursued specialty certifications in both Orthopedics and Pelvic Health. I moved to New York City in 2015 to complete an Orthopedic Residency through NYU Steinhardt. Following residency, I became an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association. Additionally, I received extensive training in pelvic health through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institution, and in 2019 I became a certified Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner (PRPC).

In 2023, I moved back to the Rochester area with my husband, son, and corgi, Willow. I love being spending time with my family while walking along the Erie Canal. In my downtime, I always have a new book on my kindle (and trying to balance between trashy rom-coms and polyvagal theory). I welcome you to come to physical therapy with questions… and book recommendations.
